How We Can Build Highly Interconnected Communities

My project concerns how much neighborhood social capital is created through planning projects and community events as opposed to factors unrelated to shifts in urbanization - e.g., shifts in mass media technologies. This study revolves around case studies of three Cincinnati neighborhoods with CURCs - i.e., College Hill, Northside, and Madisonville - and how these neighborhoods juxtapose with national trends in urbanization and socialization using findings from my resident surveys. From studying these three dense, mixed-use neighborhoods, I will recommend solutions for other neighborhoods using the strategies implemented by my selected neighborhoods to foster higher levels of social ties between residents.
