Nature's Embrace: Remembering Lives, Supporting Communities

The design focus for this memorial centers on life by remembering lives lost and inviting life into the space. The purpose of the memorial is to shine a light on the radiation experiments conducted at the Cincinnati General Hospital by exposing the truth and honoring the victims who were unknowingly tested on. Visitors to the site will learn about the events while finding lush landscapes of pollinator and bird friendly plantings. Nature is inherently a healing space, and this design seeks to bring those healing properties to the forefront and let the natural world speak for itself. By letting nature shine, users of the site can be reminded that they are part of something greater. This connection can bring solace and hope by reminding individuals that they are part of a larger, interconnected web of life. This is a space meant for everyone whether they are linked to the experiments that took place or not. It is a place that can bring strangers together and where people can have a shared experience of being awed by nature.
