De Constructing ADUs
Reimagining Accessory Dwelling Units Through Deconstruction and the Circular Economy
Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) have been touted as a potential solution to the ever-worsening housing crisis but have struggled to take off in many cities, including Cincinnati. This project explores the common barriers and misconceptions in constructing ADUs. It addresses the shortfalls in ADU construction by using a model of design for deconstruction and creating the infrastructure for a circular economy to make them more accessible, affordable, and sustainable to homeowners in Cincinnati.
