Rising Risks, Resilient Response

Urban centers face growing challenges from runoff, pollution, and urban heat. This project reimagines Downtown Cincinnati’s streets as a water management network using green and blue infrastructure—bioswales, rain gardens, and retention zones—to filter runoff, reduce flooding, and lower temperatures. By transforming impervious streets into “eco dams and levees,” the project transforms impervious streets into functional, natural systems, tackling pollution and extreme heat while creating a healthier, more resilient downtown.
